The Eraserheads is one of the most influential rock bands in OPM history. They are popularly referred to as ‘The Beatles of the Philippines’. The band was formed in the year 1989 and immediately rose to success. The entire nation fell in love with the witty lyrics and authentic sound. The band released several singles, albums, and EPs that took them to great achievement and brought them the Viewer’s Choice Award at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
Brownman Revival is a famous reggae band founded in the year 1994. A famous author has described Brownman Revival as “reggae-inspired beats with traditional folk-pop rhythms and the basest of lyrical themes”. This band of eight musicians produced dynamic sound because they used basic band instruments as well as auxiliary percussion and wind instruments like the trumpet and saxophone. Rivermaya is a rock band founded in 1993. The band has evolved through standard rock, hard rock, pop, progressive and other genres. They are listed in the top twenty biggest-selling artists in the Philippines. The current members include Mark Escueta, Mike Elgar, Nathan Azarcon and Aiman Borres.
